Sunday, February 23, 2025 from 1-3 pm

Join us to celebrate the 10th year of the Garretson Community Seed Library. We have received generous donations of heirloom and organic vegetable, herb, and flower seeds from Seed Savers Exchange, High Mowing Organic Seeds and Bakers Creek Seed Company and we offer them to the community for free. Start putting your 2025 gardening dreams into action!

Enjoy conversing with Master Gardeners and other local gardeners. We will have information on dates for indoor and outdoor seed starting in our area, garden designs, composting, native plants, and ideas for deer resistant plants.

Membership is not required to attend this event, but we encourage you to support our free community seed library by becoming or renewing your Garretson membership for 2025.

Seeds from the Garretson Community Seed Library will also be available on Thursdays 3/20, 4/3, 4/10, 4/17, 4/24, 5/1 and 5/8 from 10:30am – noon; and Sundays 4/13 and 4/27 from 1:30pm – 3pm.

Sunday, March 16, 2025 from 1-4 pm

In Ireland, peas are traditionally planted on Saint Patrick’s Day. Planting peas on that day is said to bring luck at harvest time. This year our first outdoor planting of the season will take place on Sunday, March 16, the day before Saint Patrick's Day.

You don’t need to be a member to attend. Everyone, especially children, is invited to help the Garretson gardeners get the gardening season off to a good start. Join us anytime between 1 - 4 pm.

Our seed library is also open that day. Stop by to get some free seeds to get your own garden started. Master Gardeners will be there to assist you with any questions you may have.

March 20 - November 9

Garden volunteer days are every Thursday starting on March 20 through November 9. Volunteer hours are 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and on Open House Sundays from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

Work alongside Master Gardeners in our organic gardens. Learn to sow, transplant, harvest and preserve open-pollinated vegetables and herbs. Enjoy keeping our native plant and pollinator gardens in good shape for beneficial wildlife, and participate in our Monarch Butterfly program.

Guided tours of the homestead and gardens are available on the following dates from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. April 13 and 27; May 25; June 8 and 22; July 13 and 27; August 10 and 24; September 14 and 28; October 12 and 26; November 9 (last Open House of the year)
